The perfect man is a myth, your first encouter wasn't epic,

The old trick of divide and conquer has become an epidemic,

Burned battered and bruised are the war scars we choose,

Because we always stay with someone that we're afraid to lose,

And evidently we start the game of self sabotage,

Like a montage, we collect memories of lovers past,

And compare a current love even when they dont ask,

And jump right into another relationship when it don't last,

Coz we're afraid of being alone incase we start to analyse ourselves,

And really start to ponder is it me, do I need help?

Am I too picky? nah it's not me its him, and it's not him it's her,

What did I ever see in you in the first place? Ergh!!

But for the moment you were perfect never realising as such,

That to sustain a relationship goes beyond looks and touch,

And if that's the only reason you're bound to feel disdain,

After a while you'll realise the keyword is sustain,

Can you endure when the road gets tough?

I'm not just talking lip service or calling my bluff,

Selling dreams or painting a picture for right now,

I'm talking will you still love me long after the wow, factor has left and the magic ain't there,

The kids have left the house and we're in a rocking chair,

You stay not because you have to, but coz you really care,

You're firm in your decision and neither here nor there,

Double minded and blinded to what other people think,

No, lets stay together coz our hearts are in sync.
