God the Father is intended to be our dwelling place, our Home, and He holds the design (the plan) for our lives. God designed us to be expressions of His image and likeness and to have relationship with Him. His Spirit is the way to this understanding and leads us through the process of its development. The fruits of relationship with God’s Spirit are: love, joy, peace, longsuffering (patience), kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Gal. 5:22).
Jesus sent God’s Holy Spirit to indwell us. If we choose relationship with Him, His Spirit is born in us and the work of being formed in His image and likeness begins. As we remain in relationship, the work continues and our character and nature are gracefully transformed.
In our physical world, a child is conceived and processes through many stages prior to becoming an adult. In order to develop through these stages, nourishment, discipline, encouragement, and guidance are needed. In the same way, our expression of the image and likeness of God evolves over our life only through relationship with the One whose character is being formed in us. As we turn our focus God-ward, His nature is shown to us and as we agree to receive Him, it is born in us. He feeds it, encourages it, disciplines it, and guides it into maturity. This is not a sudden occurrence. It is the work of our entire life and our only Way Home.

In the Bible, God says that if you draw near to Him, He will draw near to you. (James 4:8) Begin prayer by eagerly desiring His presence. If you desire Him, He will give Himself to you. When you turn your heart and mind to seek only Him, His presence will come.
God will draw close to you if you truly desire Him and seek to know Him. He waits on your request. As any other person would, God wants you to come to Him desiring to know about Him, not just to receive something from Him. Your desire is an invitation for Him to come and communicate who He is to your heart and who you are to His.

About the Book
The Way Home is a book written for anyone who desires to understand how to be in a relationship with God. Having a relationship with God is more than believing in Him. It is listening to Him, being led by Him and serving Him by serving others. It is learning to see in a new way, hear with fresh insight and have a heart that grows in love toward His creation.
God is a lover of all that He has made. You are part of that creation and He wants you to know the depth of His passion for you and everyone around you.
The Way Home will give you a sense of who God is, how He operates and what He has designed you to do and become. The fullness of your potential and the way to recognize it is held within Him. In this book, you are encouraged to seek the way to that knowledge and then express it with freedom.
About the Author
Julia Mitchell is a singer, writer, and illustrator. For many years, Julia owned a highly successful wholesale and retail art business. She has now surrendered her talents to God’s service as a Christian artist and writer.
Julia has a strong passion for two things: God and the arts. Thus it is natural for her to communicate about God through her creative gifts. For much of her life, Julia was afraid to share her creativity with others. She also kept her love for God private. This was crippling to the outward release of her artistic expression, but even more it kept her from sharing with others the gift of God’s love. It was not until she surrendered her life to Jesus and truly experienced the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, that she was set free from that fear and is now able to share the loving relationship with God that has meant so much to her and can be enjoyed by so many others.
As she was finding her way through to the freedom that God has given her, Julia wrote down the things she was learning, hoping they might help others to find release from their own chains of doubt and fear. She did illustrations to accompany these thoughts. It is with the release of this book that she hopes to share the deep love God has revealed He holds for all who would care to know Him, and the freedom that can be had when one chooses to walk hand-in-hand with God, believing it is His desire to set them free.
