As the waitress put the coffee on the table Julie asked, "Do you have a newspaper I could read? I need to check the weather." The waitress thought about offering the weather information she overheard the truck drivers discussing earlier but decided she didn't want to spend any more time with this customer than absolutely necessary so she answered, "I certainly do, I'll be right back." Julie didn't answer or even look up as she sipped her coffee. The waitress came back and handed the paper to Julie saying, "There you go." and quickly left. Julie took another sip of her coffee opened the paper and started to turn the page to look for the weather forecast but decided to check out the pictures of, what looked like, a major car/truck accident. After looking at the mangled cars and the semi truck she started reading the article below and just a paragraph down her eyes fell on the name, "Denette Montgomery." She kept reading as the reporter painted Denette and two other men as being heroes. The more she read the angrier she became thinking, Denette is no hero, she is responsible for Bobby's death. As she continued to seethe with hatred and anger she thought, so this is where you've moved to and are you thinking you have hidden from your past? Huh? . . . Well think again!

About the Book
Like a dirt road, winding through the countryside, filled with potholes and rocks finally meets up with the highway, so Denette’s “life after drugs” has met the “highway.” It’s been four long years in college after taking on the quest of a new beginning, barely escaping the devastation of addiction.
Here it is, clear sailing on the highway of success on the way to her new job with a newspaper crew as an investigative reporter. Yet, in the back of her mind, Denette finds it hard to believe that her past is truly gone. As she reserves part of her mind to being cautious, just in case … a blast from the past attempts to spoil what will finally be the true victory over her shadowy past.
About the Author
Jeanne Amersfoort and her husband were pastors at mission churches in Northern California for twenty-five years. Through those years to the present, Jeanne volunteers much of her time as a family crisis/drug and alcohol counselor. She and her husband, Ernest, make their home in the Silver Valley of northern Idaho.
