Flowers of Thankfulness

The word of God is a strong tower, whenever the righteous seek its help, they're saved. There's nothing on earth or under the earth that is greater than the word of God. How great would it be if we can all learn to trust in it and build our life upon it.

The poems written in this book by Wansoo Kim are mirrors of the grace in Christ Jesus. They lift out the power, wisdom and mercy of God because the poems have direct correlation with the word itself. While reading the poems, I felt like I was reading the Bible because it spoke directly to me in a dynamic way.

The Bible itself is filled with poetry. The poems in this book were skillfully cooked to present the message coherently. While studying the poems, the mental and spiritual eyes of a good reader will be opened. This shows the content came from the heart of a man filled with the spirit of God. A man that experienced the dark side of life and God stretches his hands to draw him into his marvellous light. No wonder the title is "FLOWERS OF THANKFULNESS" because most of the powerful poems give glory back to God for his faithfulness and kindness.

The Bible says "my people suffer for lack of knowledge" but where can we find knowledge if not in the word of God? Wansoo Kim displayed God-given wisdom in all his poems. While studying most of the poems, I saw life in a whole new perspective, in the way God has structured it. In one of the poems in this book, Kim made it known that darkness itself is a gift. This is totally true as this is foregrounded in Isaiah 45:7 - "I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things." I asked myself one fundamental question which is "Without darkness, can man really appreciate light?". This poem shows the height and huge content of the wisdom within all the lines in this book (FLOWERS OF THANKFULNESS) If a man hasn't tasted the bitter tongue of life, can he appreciate its sweetness?

While studying (I didn't read those poems, I studied them) the poems, I discovered the dynamics of human nature. One of the poems I fell in love with is titled "TONGUE". In this poem, Wansoo Kim skillfully explained the nature of man in a few lines that it takes a whole novel for other writers to achieve this effect. The poem shows how human nature influences the words that proceed out of our tongue and how only the word of God can help us "tame" it.

There's power in each poem because it's a reflection of the word of God itself. Poetry is complex in nature: the ancient understood this and they used poetry to pass complex wisdom. No wonder most of the sacred books are poetical in nature. Wisdom that can't really be passed fluently with other forms of literature. it takes a man who has God-given gift in poetry to write something so great like this. I said earlier that the Bible itself is filled with poetry. in fact, I perceived in my spirit that Wansoo Kim has the gift of WORD OF KNOWLEDGE AND WISDOM according to 1 Corinthians 12:8 - "For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit" The best way to display such gift is through the use of poetry. Jesus himself talked mostly in parables. A single poem can be interpreted in so many ways and the goal is to give readers more understanding.

One of the interesting fact about this book is that it displays the awesome power of God in all ramifications; healing, grace, superiority etc. It touches all aspects of human life. It is one of the best books a good and dedicated Christian should have.
