Unknown Force

Jason clung to the window sill as he tried to raise the window with his shoulder. Bumbling and bumping the wall, he finally got it raised about half-way. He took a deep breath and slung his leg over the sill. Then he tried to slide his body further in.
About that time, he heard a loud growl and something grabbed his leg and started to pull making awful sounds. Jason screamed and put his outside foot against the wall, pushing with all of his might to get his other leg back out of the window. When the animal or varmint or whatever had hold of him let go he fell on his back, to the ground. The pain was so bad he screamed, and jumped up and ran as fast as he could go! There was something BAD in that church!
Catching his breath after several minutes he slowed down and leaned against a building. His hands were shaking and his knees were weak. What had happened? As he slowed to breathe, he decided to rethink the last movements he had made.
He had felt the wind blowing against him as he slithered down the block looking for some place warm to try to spend the night. Lubbock, Texas was cold during the winter. Was it Lubbock or Amarillo that people said, ‘there was nothing between the city and the North Pole but a barbed wire fence, and it was down’? How he hated being alone, and lonely! But he hated more to be the brunt of his father, every time something displeased him. So, he had run away.
Spying a church across the street, he thought, “If it is open maybe I can slip in and sleep on a pew. Most churches are heated.” He looked both ways to see if someone was watching him try the front door. However, it was locked. He had heard of friends who slept several times in the Catholic Church, but it was across town. They didn’t seem to lock their doors. He looked around to see the denomination of this one.
“Confusing! What does it mean when it simply says ‘Community Church’?” Shaking his head, he shivered as more gust of cold air hit his raw back. He ran around the side of the large building looking for another entrance that might be unlocked. To his surprise, he spied a window open, just a tad. “I bet if I jump I can get hold of the bottom of the window sill. Then I’ll just ease the window up more and sling my leg over, and crawl in.”
That was when the monster got him!
