To My Grandchildren:
I love the Bible. I’m sorry to admit I didn’t feel this way when I was your age. I loved God; but to be honest, I found the Bible full of names I couldn’t pronounce and things I didn’t understand. Memorizing scripture has never come easy for me. I seem to do best when memorizing verses in alphabetical order. Sometimes when I cannot sleep at night, I will go through my verses alphabetically, paying attention to the lessons of each verse. This gives me such a peaceful feeling, and I always go to sleep before I can complete the alphabet. I also find strength and peace while remembering these verses during difficult times in my life. If you do not memorize the verses in this book exactly as written, remember the lessons they teach to encourage you when needed.
I first started to write this "book" for you because you are always on my mind and in my prayers. I want so much to give you the encouragement and the answers found in the Bible. This book of unsolicited advice includes some of my favorite Bible verses and some I just chose because I was determined to find a verse starting with every letter of the alphabet. Needless to say, I didn't even scratch the surface of what can be found in this great book, the Bible. When writing my thoughts about each verse, I realized another wonderful quality of the Bible. You will always find something new every time you read it. Each of these bible verses may have a different meaning for you, depending upon what is happening in your life at the time. After reading my thoughts, think of the verse and see if it will benefit you in something going on in your life. I also have put a little challenge in the book. I have written in one of my messages an explanation to my picture on the back of this book. I hope as you read my unsolicited advice, you will realize all advice was given with love. I do realize that what makes so much sense to me and helps me cannot always be shared by my words. Your relationship with God is something no one can give you without your willingness to accept it. As much as I love you, God loves you even more. He will always be there for you; and remember, you can do all things through Christ who gives you strength.

About the Book
This book was written by a grandmother who wanted to share her love of God with her grandchildren. In this book, she describes in daily lessons how many life experiences (including surviving a dissected aorta when she was given a 7% chance of survival) have strengthened her faith in God and have given her a feeling of peace and hope she prays for her loved ones to have. She also wanted her grandchildren to know what a special book the Bible is and the encouragement that can be found in God’s word.

About the Author
Lyndall Stokes Ridenour and Roger, her husband of 52 years, are the parents of two children, grandparents of nine and great-aunt and great-uncle of five special nieces and nephews. In 2010 Lyndall suffered a dissected aorta and was given a 7% chance of survival. At that time the doctors told her husband there was a probability she would be a vegetable if she did survive. Because of this experience and many other life lessons, her faith has grown stronger and she has felt a peace and hope she wanted to pass on to her loved ones. Lyndall decided to write a book to share with them the importance of having God in their lives. She also wanted them to know what a special book the Bible is and the encouragement she has found in God’s word. Lyndall feels blessed to have the opportunity to share her feelings about her love for God and to give Him the glory for all He has done in her life. The book explains “the rest of the story”.
