About the Book

Johnny Hendricks has begun building a youth mission in the historical district of Hancock, in Michigan’s upper Peninsula. Along with the characters from Keweenaw Grace, he is joined by a banjo picker from Eastern Kentucky; a beautiful fiddler from Northern Ireland; a ninetyeight and a half year old retired school teacher with a secret, and a quiet track coach with a past.

Thrown together against a back drop of the Keweenaw Peninsula on Lake Superior, this group seeks to help Johnny fulfill his vision in spite of some challenging twists and turns.

About the Author

Holmes draws on the experiences of his own youth in creating this story of Johnny Hendricks, whose faith and calling bring him to the tip of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

Over the last forty years, Brian and his family have made excursions to the Keweenaw Peninsula and have tried to absorb this culture woven between Finnish American tradition and a failed copper-mining economy. Hopefully, this tale will present the challenges Johnny faces at every turn, and through hard work, and the hand of God, wins the day.
