Consider yourself a disciple leader. In other words, you are a follower, adherent, and learner of Jesus. And you are a person of influence with responsibility to lead. You are a disciple leader. The aim of this book is to help you learn, grow and apply the principles. It begins with learning and valuing basic discipleship principles in your personal and church life. Take the orthodoxy of this book and make it orthopraxy. This means you take the biblical and foundational truths that guide our beliefs and convictions on discipleship and implement them into your personal and church life. This should be the practice of your life.

Since you have read through the first eight chapters, you have learned about Spiritual Formation, Cultural Context, Evangelism, Mentoring, Small groups, Serving, Preaching, and integrating Discipleship and Ministry Leadership. These chapters were written with a design in mind. The topic of the chapters represent elements, platforms or approaches for discipleship. Since we all learn, consider the human growth process, beginning with God’s creative design for all people to be formed spiritually. Then you progress through the impact of the learning environment, the teacher, the learner, and the curriculum. This process starts individually and advances to a church discipleship strategy to equip believers. It begins with you as a Ministry Leader.

“The ball is in your court.” Those are familiar words that describe the personal challenge to take the truths that are evident, the things that you have learned and put them into practice. I’ve heard those words from coaches, parents, and friends. For the context of discipleship, those words symbolize God’s expectations for us. And the good news for us is that God is with us in full partnership to fulfill this challenge Mentoring, Small groups, Serving, Preaching, and integrating Discipleship and Ministry Leadership. As you begin part two of this book, you will find that the chapters are organized around specific church ministries, based on age and gender. The church is multigenerational and representative of all peoples. Due to developmental concerns, there are methods that are more appropriate for preschoolers, children, youth, college-aged, and seniors. There are also more effective discipling methods for men and women due to God’s creative design. Leading these church ministries necessitates leadership. In these chapters you find specific and practical suggestions for churches of any size. Now be a disciple leader.
