About the Author

Debbie Ogden Mayes is a lifelong resident of Livingston, Texas. She’s been married to her High School Sweetheart, Keith for over 40 years. Debbie has two grown children with families of their own. She says her four grandchildren are the frosting on life’s cake.

Debbie has been involved in children’s ministry for many years. She spent 20 years serving in the Primary Sunday School Department at Chesswood Baptist Church in Livingston, Texas, teaching two and three year olds as well as 4 and 5 year olds. She served at Central Baptist Church in Livingston, Texas writing and presenting the Children’s Sermon during worship. While at Central Baptist Church, she also led many Women’s Bible Studies. Debbie has no formal education to brag about. She’s been gifted by God to write and present Bible messages on a level that children can understand and adults can benefit from as well. She is currently a member of First Baptist Church in Livingston, Texas.

My prayer is that this book falls into the hands of Children’s Ministry Leaders, Sunday School Teachers, and Pastors that are desperately seeking a message to impact the children they are ministering to. Writing children’s messages comes easily for me. Over the years, I have learned that it doesn’t come that easy for others. I hope and pray this book will be the resource you need. May the words given to me by God, flow through you, planting seeds of salvation, reaping an abundant harvest.

As you teach children, get on their eye level, be silly, let them talk and ask questions. Smile a lot. Be playful, demonstrative, and always be full of energy and excitement.
