Victory Hill
Romans 5:3-4
And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope.
In my youth, my sisters and I would ride bikes a lot. We would construct bike jumps in the middle of the street, and whoever hit the most air was the winner. It was a great deal of fun that I remember all these years later.
Our neighboring town had some extreme hills, one of which was a favorite of ours because it offered such a challenge. We found out later that people would check if their vehicles' transmissions worked properly on that hill. We called it "Death Hill" because when we tried to climb it on a bike, it felt like we'd die trying to reach the top.
Sometimes I would run at the high school track and then ride my bike over to that hill. For a long time, I never made it to the top. Then a friend, who was a bike racer, built me a high-tech, carbon ultra-light bike, which weighed almost less than a coffee cup!
I could hardly wait to see how my new ultra-light would stand up against Death Hill. When I crested that hill on my new bike, I raised both arms in the air and cried out triumphantly! Right then, that hill became Victory Hill!
My words of encouragement today are that God is good. If you keep suiting up and showing up, He will give you the victory in His timing. The book of Romans states that God is no respecter of persons. He will use you in His kingdom if you ask Him. Your Christian walk will have challenges, but these tribulations will make you a stronger Christian in the long run.
