The Grain Game Playbook

The Grain Game uses a collection of 70 object lessons that are designed for the hearts and minds of kids, specifically, preteens and teens. We focus on kids because He insisted that they be welcomed and treated as treasured members of the community. We use object lessons because we want to teach in the way that Jesus taught.

He showed the perfect model for God's work when He ministered to the woman at the well. The account is given in John 4.

He met her at the place where she was. He reached out to her and accepted her, astonishing her by the gifts of His time and His friendship. He didn't hide from her the most difficult of truths. But He likewise didn't fail to land their discussion at the happy place of redemption.

And all of this took place within the context of the simplest backdrop: drinking water. It was what the woman was already looking for. It was what her mind was already able to understand.

Why shouldn't every person in the world receive the kind of ministry that Jesus gave? Especially the kids?

Why shouldn't every one of them be given the gifts of Jesus' time and friendship? Why shouldn't every one of them be taught the most important truths...in a way that their hearts and minds are prepared to receive?

Which one of the world's two billion kids do we think God would be happy just to overlook?

Within the list of 70 Grain Game teachings there is a pretty wild amount of variety. Some of the teachings are games. Some of them are gifts. Some of them are science tricks. Some of them are stunts. But all of them are designed with the purpose of revealing God's Son to young people. And all of them are simple enough that any small group of Christians with a love for kids can carry them off.
