Remember What I Told You

Although I’m a mom writing this scriptural reminder and guide for you as you proceed with your own life, I share this brief background to remind you that I too was once a young adult with great dreams. I faced the same temptations, frustrations, and expectations that now stare you in the eye. I didn’t always make the right choices. Neither will you. Don’t beat yourself up. Most of all, don’t let that keep you down. Learn from mistakes. Move on with determination to grow.

My most beautiful experiences happened as a direct result of prayer, trust in God, and belief in His Word. That is why I chose to write this book. As I share favorite Scriptures, personal experiences, and foundations of our faith, my hope is that you will purpose to fellowship with our precious Lord and Savior every day. He truly is a friend who “sticks closer than a brother” (Proverbs 18:24). God’s love for me is more real than that of my husband, mother, or children. In fact, my close relationship to Jesus nurtures a more meaningful relationship with my family and friends.

Knowing God’s Word is crucial to knowing God. Too often people are overwhelmed at the thought of reading the Bible. Some give up because they feel they have to read it cover to cover. Some don’t understand the terminology or background. Sadly, many people believe they could never adhere to all the “rules,” so they simply don’t try. God’s commandments are not meant to punish you but rather to protect you. As you learn the truth of the Word, you realize that God’s desire is to bless you with good things. When you align your life to His Word—avoiding habits and choices that could harm you—He guides you and gives you “every good and perfect gift” (James 1:17). Once God’s goodness flows into your life, you won’t be concerned about what you can’t do; you’ll be too busy focusing on what you can do to experience more!
