Braheem's dad ran track in high school and college. In Braheem's house on the shelf are the awards and trophies he'd won.
His dad coached the neighborhood youth track team, the Calvary Blazers, for kids aged ten to twelve. Braheem watched closely as his dad showed the big kids how to run, jump, and sprint properly.
Sometimes Braheem and his dad ran together.
Braheem wanted to be like his dad, so he decided to try out for the track team at his school.
A day before the tryouts, Braheem asked, "Dad, will you teach me to run like you?"
"Sure, it's not too early for an eight year old to begin training", Mr. Judges responded happily. Smiling, Mr. Judges said, You'll learn to run as fast as you are able. However you must be willing to work hard and sacrifice. Do you know what sacrifice means, Braheem?"
Sort of but not really", admitted Braheem.
Well, Son, sacrifice means giving up something you really love to get something greater in return. There will be times when you may want to go to the arcade, watch cartoons, or play basketball with your friends. And you won't be able to do those things because you must practice. "Are you willing to make that kind of a sacrifice, Son?"
Braheem did not answer right away. The thought of giving up hanging out with his buddies did not immediately occur to him, especially when it came to shooting hoops, his second passion. Braheem looked down at his feet, then back up into his father's eyes.
"Dad, I love going places with my friends and playing ball..but I wanna be like you, Dad! I want to make the team! And I like to run!
"Good ,if you make the team, we'll start the day after", said Mr. Judges.
After that they shook hands and hugged.

About the Book
This is a book that encourages family to spend time together. Moreover to be supportive of each others goals and aspirations. This is a story that exemplifies the strengths of love and unity,where the standard has been set for the entire family to respect and honor the character of God. The main character, a child, despite his physical challenges, wants to be like his dad and accomplish his goal of becoming a runner. Nothing will hold him back.
About the Author
Deborah is a mom, grandmom, wife, sister, daughter, and friend. She attended public schools in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she was taught by her second-grade teacher to “write with expression.”
Post high school Deborah attended Community College of Philadelphia Pa, Rutgers University Camden, New Jersey and Temple University, Philadelphia Pa.
It sparked passion in Deborah to see words come alive on paper. Deborah’s creative urgings evolved from story writing to playwriting, poetry, acting, and singing.
She currently resides in South Jersey, New Jersey.
