And so begins this journey in print to capture the vital cause and power of Jesus Christ who provides perseverance beyond human reach. "Strength through Weakness" is my first-hand experience of surviving and thriving, while being consumed by chronic disease and distress. The outline has been formed, the experiences lived, and the fruit is for Jesus Christ.
A childhood is a precious and fragile thing that must be protected by those of us privileged to be their caretakers. Telling kids of adult details robs these vulnerable souls of their innocence. Childhood is a one-time proposition. Let your children be children. There will be time for them to be adults. Spare them the full exposure of life, not because you are cheating them; rather, you are guarding their precious hearts and souls. It has been my observation and life experience as a child and a dad that exposing a child to the full spectrum of life is unfair and typically damaging to the future of the child.
I think back joyfully at the early, carefree days of my childhood in the 60's and early 70's growing up in the small village of Apple Creek, Ohio. I thoroughly enjoyed my childhood. We were blessed with Christian parents that lived a traditional lifestyle in the 1960's. We were raised in a two story Victorian home on Main Street. It was like living in Mayberry from the 1960's television situation comedy show starring Andy Griffith.
Our parents were strong people of faith that truly loved one another. I was heavily influenced by the example they lived out in front of their boys. My parents joined with a few other families to establish a church known as Calvary Chapel in Massillon, Ohio. The ministry has existed for almost fifty years. I have flourished spiritually, because of my lifetime of experience with the people of Calvary Chapel and their Christian acquaintances.
Dad wore a suit Monday through Saturday to his job as a buyer/department store manager in the county's largest and longest running retail department store. Mom was a stay-at-home mother who cared for my older brother, younger brother and I. My sister, Jennifer, was born ten years after my arrival, breaking the string of boys with whom my patient mother would endure.....

About the Book
For most of his adult life, Greg Becker persevered through multiple health issues resulting in friends often telling him that he should write a book. In November, 2012, he formed the outline that would become his autobiography. Greg's nightly at-home dialysis treatments made sleep difficult, so he soon became consumed with typing his memoir throughout the nights on his iPad. His book was finished in a mere six weeks. Less than a month later, on the evening of his 56th birthday, he asked his wife to take him to the emergency room, a trip they had made many times before. Shortly after midnight, Greg went into cardiac arrest and was gone a few hours later. God's providence was evident in the writing of Greg's book just as it was throughout his entire life. This book is the culmination of a lifetime of events that Greg prayed would be used to glorify God and encourage the reader.
About the Author
Greg Becker was raised in a small town in Northeast Ohio, married his high school sweetheart, and was blessed with two daughters and a son-in-law. When his health insurance career was cut short due to his own failing health, God opened a door for Greg to step in as Pastor of his life-long church family. Shortly before his death in 2013, Greg wrote his autobiography as a last work of ministry for his Lord.
