Psalm 15 Keep Going
A runner runs a race, and much of his strength is not found in his legs or in the muscles that drive his body forward. It is found in his determination of spirit. It is the drive within him that pushes him forward one footstep after another. He pushes on with such determination that it has been reported that runners have broken bones along the way but still went on to finish the race. They choose that no matter what, even when it hurts they would keep going. It is with that same determination that we must push forward in our walk, and sometimes run, with Christ. David asks God in Psalm 15 who is it Lord that gets to live with you? This is life’s ultimate goal. Our goal is not a new car, a big house or a fat bank account. Our life goal is far beyond all others; it is to someday live with God and be with Him in His dwelling place. The focus of our lives and the race we run is to hit the tape and enter into God’s kingdom. There’s nothing this side of heaven that even comes close to the payoff we are striving for. David then goes on in the psalm to lay out what a winner looks like. They are blameless, and they do what is right. (v.2) They speak the truth and do not slander. (v.2) They do what is right for their neighbor and never speak down to his fellow man. (v.3) He honors those who fear the Lord and despises a vile man. (v.4) He never accepts a bribe and borrows money without interest. (v.5) He keeps going; he keeps his oath even when it hurts. (v.4) These are the qualities of a person who will never be shaken. (v.5) Life is a long race, it is a long distance run of obstacles and distractions but out there in the distance is the tape. It is the goal to which we strive; eternity spent with God. There will be days when you wonder how you can go on; wondering if there is even one more step in you, keep going. Continue to do what is right. Continue to speak the truth and remain blameless. (v.5) Strive always to do what is right for your neighbor and honor those that do the same, as they fear the Lord. Look ahead, look way down the road, keep going, live determined to win the race. Live with the correct goal in mind; focused on the future, even when it hurts. God will not allow you to be shaken when your eyes are focused on him.

Knowing where to run to or who to call on in a time of need can be the source of great strength, it can be the single greatest key to making it through another day. On the battlefield of depression or loneliness or in the desert of hardship, redirecting focus on to what brings hope is catalyst to turning lives around and bringing about a bright future of promise. Walking with the Creator reveals the path of discovery which leads to finding this daily promise of hope.
