The Future Is in the Stars

I am sure that most people know that the constellations represent certain figures. Why are these particular “symbols” or “figures” used? Could not others have marked out the division of the Sun's path or that of the Moon or planets just as well? Especially since very few of these “figures” actually look like the figures they supposedly represent. One suggestion is that the Zodiac is representative of the seasons, three constellations for each of the four seasons. I have heard this as an explanation myself on numerous occasions. But it should be pointed out that with the phenomena of the cycling year they cannot be consistently made to agree with the changing climate everywhere on Earth all of the time. How can we “force” the constellations to agree with the seasons at the time when the ice age covered so much of the earth with ice? Who was there in the middle of a glacier to start planting or harvesting crops because the stars said so? Can the mythology then of nations give rise to a reasonable explanation? Though reflecting their “shadows”, varying so greatly from one nation and culture to the next, mythologies will be found insufficient to account for their imagery, but, if their traditional names and figures can be shown to symbolize or represent Biblical prophecy, revealed in the earliest age of man (the time of Seth and Enoch), then the use of these representations make sense.

So, as tradition has it, Seth instructed his offspring and so on down to Enoch in not only the science of astronomy, but also in the meaning of the Zodiac.

However, there may be more than just tradition. The Dendereh planisphere (a representation of the Zodiac), seen below, depicts not only the zodiac (the central circle), but the signs the Sun was in at the equinoxes and solstices. It is believed by most that this most likely represents the time that the planisphere would have been made. The reason for believing this is the fact that other planispheres from other times contain the same information. We can verify when these planispheres were made; the Zodiacs are the same, but the signs the Sun was in at the time of the equinoxes and solstices are different and so represent the different times when these planispheres were made.

If this is true, and I believe it is, the date of the Dendereh planisphere would have to be at around 4000 B.C.

As we will see later, this date will be extremely important.
