Here is what happened: Two nights ago, it was actually a Sunday night, and as I was thinking and mentally preparing for the week ahead, the feeling of inadequacy seemed to engulf me. I suddenly felt incapable of leading a group of ladies in Bible Study the following night, incapable of mentoring and discipling another group of ladies. I felt like a failure in my relationships and also as a wife. In a moment, I felt so far from who I needed to be and also who I wanted to be.
Then that familiar voice, the voice that my soul was created to hear, began to speak over me. "I need you to calmly trust Me. Be at peace because I am enough. I can defend you, sustain you, and carry you. I want you to sop putting so much pressure on yourself to be perfect; I have never required perfection from you. Love Me, set your gaze upon Me. Stop focusing on circumstances; stop focusing on yourself and your inadequacy, and stop getting sidetracked by people's opinion of you. Simply love Me."
Oh, how His words can pierce the deepest needs and pains of my heart. As I sat in silence, reflecting on what He had just revealed to me, I began to say to Him, "You are enough, You are enough, You are enough." That is when He repeated those words over me, "You are enough, You are enough, You are enough."
As what He was saying was sinking in, I began to question it, "Am I enough, really?" But if the God of all creation, of all mankind says I am, then I am. And He says those same words over you today as well, "You are enough." No matter what you may feel, no matter what has happened to you, and no matter what this next week, next month or next year may look like, you are enough!
How do I know this? Becasue God's power is at work within us.
Look at Ephesians 1:19-23
"I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God's power for us who believe in him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God's right hand in the heavenly realms. Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader of anything else - not only in this world but also in the world to come. God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church. And the church is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with himself."
That last verse says that Christ has filled all things with Himself. I am enough, you are enough, why? Because He is in us and He is always enough.
So that feeling of not measuring up, that feeling of inadequacy cannot be from our loving Father. If He cared for us enough to fill us with Himself, He would never say those things. We need to know how to spot an attack from the enemy. The enemy comes to "steal, kill and destroy," but God has come to give you "a rich and satisfying life" (John 10:10).
