Sunday Frolic

The Peterson kids looked forward to the weekends. To them, Saturdays and Sundays provided a break from school and an opportunity to have lots of fun. The children didn’t think of Sunday as a special day of the week. In fact, they had never attended church and knew very little about God and His precious Son Jesus.

One glorious Sunday morning, Sue, Mike, Annie and John decided to play in the park. It wasn’t very far away, just down the street from the neighborhood church. The youngsters ran out of the house, jumped on their scooters, and began racing down the sidewalk toward their destination. Little did they know that this day would become the most important day of their lives!

Upon reaching the church, the kids noticed that people were beginning to walk inside. Annie asked Sue, “Why do people go to church?” Sue merely shrugged and said she didn’t know.

Curious Mike suddenly came to a screeching halt. “Let’s go inside and look around,” he suggested. “Something important must be going on, like a basketball game.”

The children parked their scooters and nervously followed the crowd. John said, “I’m scared,” and grabbed Sue’s hand. “You’ll be fine,” replied Sue reassuringly.
