“I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit” (John 3:3, 6 NIV).
These powerful words that Jesus shared with Nicodemus, a Jewish religious leader who came to Him at night inquiring about salvation, show us that there are two births, spiritual and physical. The Holy Spirit revealed to me that even though the births are different they are remarkably similar. The spiritual birth is the most important, because it is required for anyone who wants to enter the kingdom of God.
To show the similarities, A New Life: The Only Way to Live book considers seven events of the physical life. Within each event, some factors of the physical life are identified and the corresponding factors of the spiritual life are given. Throughout the comparisons, the reader must remember that spiritual birth events are not restricted by time, as are physical birth events.
The conversion from sinner to Christian is the beginning of a race, or journey, that lasts a lifetime. As this commitment grows, so does the joy until we receive our ultimate joy in Heaven -- to be with our Lord and Savior
.The three basic steps of the conversion, salvation, seem so simple that some people may take them too lightly. However, each step is important because it requires a deep inward decision.
After surrendering his heart and mind to Christ, a person's life changes as his heart directs his actions to match his faith. The reality of salvation is shown by actions.
During the first year of physical life, a child can be trained to recognize one person as his father. So it is with spiritual life, except that training is a little more difficult because the spiritual newborn cannot physically see his Father. Also, there are many gods that Satan continually puts before the spiritual newborn and all Christians.
Becoming born again (saved) is just the beginning of the spiritual race or journey. As Christians learn about God, they must also learn how to apply that knowledge and wisdom to their daily lives. Their motivation to practice Christianity is based on their love for Jesus Christ, their Lord and Savior. The last chapter in this book provides information to encourage Christians to practice Christianity by putting their faith in action.

About the Author
The teaching ministry of Eric Jackson spans more than forty-five years. Inspired by the Scripture, “My people are destroyed for the lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6), he has helped people of all ages gain knowledge and understanding of the Word of God.
A native of Meherrin, Virginia, Eric is a graduate of Howard University and the University of Virginia and was a licensed mechanical engineer until his retirement. He resides in Newport News with his wife, Celestine. Eric is the father of Eric Jr. and his wife, Ellen, and Cheryl and her husband, Virgil Tyler. He is a grandfather of Selena Jackson, Karina Jackson, and Virgil Tyler, Jr.
