We crunched the numbers and made projections based on the numbers,” Jennifer paused, shaking her head. “David, we ran and re-ran the numbers and there is a stellar mass black hole about half the size of our moon which is going to pass through our solar system within four years. The effects are going to be catastrophic even in the best case, and I don’t even want to talk about the worst one.” Jennifer surprised herself as she began to weep. David scooted close to her on the porch swing and held her tight. Several minutes passed as she began to collect herself. Jennifer hadn’t cried like this since her brother was killed in a car wreck ten years earlier while on his way to college. “You know, by comparison, loosing a star is little thing,” Jennifer continued. “But seeing irrefutable evidence of the end of our lives, our world, and everything we know is . . .” She didn’t know what to say or how to say it. “It’s just natural to assume that everything in life will always go on just like it always has. But now this! And there is nothing anyone can do to change it. This is like getting news from the doctor about terminal cancer except that it is for all of us, the whole world. It just crushes me to think that our two wonderful kids and all the beloved children around our world are never going to live to see their adult lives.” David knew of nothing to say. They just sat in the porch swing, watching the dying of the day with glorious yellows and oranges fading off into reds and violet. Soon, Jennifer would leave and head back to the Observatory to conduct her scheduled viewing. It seemed somewhat pointless now, but Jennifer found some comfort in the consistency of this immediate task, forgetting for a few hours the terrible thing about to befall everything that mattered.

About the Book
An unassuming astronomer and her family find themselves and the entire world dislocated after she makes a series of major interstellar discoveries that lead to the worst threat to Earth ever. About the Author
The Rev. Dr. Tim Edwards has had a lifelong interest in astronomy, physics, and space exploration, as well as classic science fiction literature. While studying for a career in medicine, he was called into the ministry. Throughout his thirty-four years of pastoral ministry, Tim has continued to study in these fields, inspired by the incredible ways God works in His creation.
Tim went to high school with the children of the scientists, engineers, and astronauts from the Johnson Space Center in Houston during the Apollo moon missions. His mother worked at NASA during these years as well, giving him appreciation for the high level of dedication in the people who first put man on the moon.
