Laura Joy Anderson Pewitt earned her BS and MS degrees in Elementary Education, with emphasis on early childhood development. She has over 25 years experience as an educator and a parent. When asked, "What is the most important thing I can do to help my child learn?" her response is, "Read and enjoy books together, and take time to talk with your child about what you've read." Children will learn new vocabulary and gain knowledge about the world. Reading good books together can develop deeper bonds between the reader and the listener and this can have a life-long impact of positive emotional development on a young child. As an Author, I like to use animals in my stories. Young children find it easy to empathize with animals and the problems they face in a story. My hope is that children and adults will connect with the words and characters in my stories. I am inspired to write stories for children while I'm in nature, especially at the beach, or in the mountains, and also on my front porch swing in middle Tennessee.
