Growing up, I never knew a Holy God who battled for my life and had a plan for it. It’s a plan that requires bravery on my part. I must stop holding the Band-Aid so He can pull it off and begin to heal me. Have you noticed that the “Follow Me” adventure Jesus calls us to doesn’t have room for self-preservation, self-reliance, or self-sufficiency? We need to pack light; all we need is found in Him.
I didn’t know what I avoided my whole life would be something God would call me to do for Him. No wonder my enemy tried his best to stop those plans. He may have stalled them, but he didn’t have the power to stop them. Praise God!
Healing of any kind takes time. Over the years, God has poured heaps of anointed grace onto my wound. God has met me with His healing touch in His Word and also used godly influences like my pastor and his wife to help bring forth healing in my life.
What wounds do you carry today? Is your makeshift Band-Aid working for you? Trust me; I get it. I’ve lived it. It’ll hurt when it’s pulled off, but be brave enough to let God take it off and begin healing your wounds today. He is the only one who can. “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds” (Psalm 147:3).
