OVERVIEW

You may enter the Women of Faith 2010 Writing Contest by completing the steps listed at www.westbowpress.com/wofcontest.aspx anytime during the submission period.  Only one manuscript submission is permitted per entrant.  Any entrant who submits multiple entries will be disqualified.

Submissions period begins on August 1, 2010. The deadline to submit an entry for the contest is 11:59 PM ET on January 15, 2011.

There are no entry fees, no subsidy payments and no purchases of any kind required to enter and/or win the contest. WestBow Press and Women of Faith reserves the right to declare any entry ineligible if it is determined that the entry is not in accordance with the terms stated in WestBow Press’s Editorial Standards or in the Official Terms and Conditions.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE

  • All writers of previously unpublished full-length books, fiction or nonfiction, of any genre, subjects, and/or memoirs are eligible to enter.
  • All entrants must have original and completed manuscripts.
  • Picture books or children’s books will not be considered. However, young adult novels are acceptable.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older or with parental consent.
  • Employees of Women of Faith, Inc., Thomas Nelson, Inc. and WestBow Press are not eligible to enter the contest.

CONTENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 10,000 word count required (or manuscript must be able to at least fill a 48-page, 5 by 8 inch book).
  • All manuscripts entered must be contained in one single Word document.
  • All manuscripts must be submitted in English.

PRIZES FOR THE CONTEST

Entries are judged based on the context, originality, creative imagination, characterization, artistic quality, and the adherence to WestBow Press’s Editorial Standards.

One Grand Prize winner will receive:

  • At the sole discretion of Thomas Nelson, Inc., publication of the winning entry by Thomas Nelson, Inc. and the opportunity to have the book sold by Women of Faith; Inc. or,
  • If Thomas Nelson declines to publish the winning entry, the Grand Prize winner will receive a FREE Bookstore Advantage publishing package with WestBow Press

First Place winner will receive:

  • FREE Pro Format publishing package with WestBow Press.

Second Place winner will receive:

  • 50 percent discount off a Bookstore Advantage publishing package.

The 30 Round Two finalists will receive:

  • 20 percent discount off any WestBow Press publishing package.

HOW TO ENTER

Step One: Complete the Entry Form

Enter by completing the registration form located here: http://www.westbowpress.com/wofcontest.aspx 

After entering the Women of Faith Writing Contest, you will receive an e-mail within the next two business days outlining the last steps you need to take in order to complete your contest entry. If you do not receive entry details within the allotted time, please contact us.

Step Two: Submit Your Entry

The next step is to e-mail your manuscript entry to:  contest@westbowpress.com. Follow the entry details below and remember, only one manuscript submission is permitted per entrant; any entrant who submits multiple entries will be disqualified. (Please thoroughly review the Official Terms and Conditions to ensure that you are eligible and will not be disqualified.)

To complete your entry for the Women of Faith Writing Contest, please carefully follow listed below:

  • All manuscripts entered must be double-spaced, formatted in Times New Roman font and contained in one single Microsoft Word document (.doc or .docx).
  • Clearly list your name as a header on each page of your submission.
  • In the subject line of the e-mail, type "WoF 2010 Writing Contest (YOUR FULL NAME)."
  • In the body of the e-mail, include:
    • your full name
    • physical mailing address (no P.O. Box please)
    • phone number
    • e-mail address
    • the title of your submission
  • Attach your manuscript submission to the e-mail (do not paste it in the body of the e-mail).
  • There is a 10,000 word count minimum (or your manuscript must be able to fill a 48-page, 5 inch by 8 inch book). Entrants that do not meet these content requirements will not be considered.

Once you've submitted your entry, you will receive a confirmation message verifying your manuscript was received and your contest submission is complete. Due to the volume of submissions, please be aware e-mail confirmation may take up to two business days.
