INTRODUCTION
A few years ago, I was going through a trial where I thought I was going to lose my mind. I had been struggling with a secret sin (habitual sin) for some time, and I was about to lose my marriage, my home, my mind, and maybe my life. I had to admit to myself and to God that I could not win this battle on my own. I needed help and I needed it fast. It was during this time that my husband and I had agreed to bring his four children, my stepchildren, here to the states from Cameroon, West Africa. I was working full time, going to school at night, and trying to handle the pressures of becoming a new stepmother all at once. I realize today that I was naïve to think the transition would go smoothly, even with my faith in God. In the words of my husband, it was like a tornado had touched down in our home. We had been together for six years prior to this and were married for about three years when the children came to live with us. So, we had built a bond, but that foundation was shaken to its core.
When I tell you it was a test of our faith, believe me it was. I knew it was a spiritual battle, but I could not figure out why I was losing. I knew I loved the Lord, and believed with all my heart that I was saved. I had been walking with the Lord for about ten years and went to church regularly. I prayed and fasted and read my word, but nothing I did seemed to be working. I could not break free.
I remember like it was yesterday. I was talking with a girlfriend of mine who was led by the Holy Spirit to share her experience with me on how to put on the whole armor of God. I was telling her how the devil was beating me up in the spirit. That’s when she told me how for a year, she was led to mentally dress in the whole armor of God which is described in Ephesians 6: 10 – 18. It was like a light bulb literally came on in my mind. I knew that was the answer to my problem and to my prayers. I had been trying to fight the enemy in my own strength and intelligence, but I was losing terribly. I heard this scripture before and even read it in the bible, but I had not yet gotten the revelation of how important it was as a Believer in Christ to apply this command to my daily life. I started reading anything I could get my hands on that had to do with putting on the whole armor of God. I remember my girlfriend telling me to go to Dr. Charles Stanley’s website (the Pastor of InTouch Ministries) and look through his sermons because he taught on this very subject. When I went to his website, I was led to print out and read daily the breakdown he gave of the whole armor of God, what each piece stood for, what it did, and how it protected our spirit and bodies. I started doing as my girlfriend instructed and would dress in my whole armor (mentally) each morning before my feet hit the floor. I had to learn how to dress for the battle in the spirit realm.
Around this same time, I was led to purchase The Rules of Engagement – in Spiritual Warfare, a book by Dr. Cindy Trimm. This book changed my life. I heard this phrase all the time but did not fully believe that a book could really change a person’s life. Well, I can honestly say that this book changed my life forever. The bible says And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s (2 Chron. 20:15). God will fight the battle, but I learned that we must dress for the battle in order to get victory. Remember, the weapons of our warfare are not carnal (natural minded) but are mighty through the pulling down of strongholds. We wrestle not with flesh and blood, but with spiritual wickedness in high places. In the next chapters of this book, I will share with you what I learned and what was taught to me by the Holy Spirit on how to dress for the battle. Maybe you too are going through a spiritual battle and feel like you are losing but be encouraged. God is faithful to his word…. we just have to apply it and be doers of the word and not just hearers. I pray you are blessed by this revelation as much as I have been in my life.

The author so vividly provide real life examples of how each piece of the Whole Armor of God is used to protect your peace and to help you stand in the spiritual warfare that comes through the enemy to disrupt the blessings of God in our lives. This book will immediately begin to open your understanding of how to stand by faith and use the weapons of our warfare which is the Armor of God, to overcome and win your life’s battles and challenges! Your faith will be strengthened, your resolve to stand in God becomes doable and your confidence to know that God is with you and working it out for your good is made sure.
