How did God comfort these three young men during their time inside this fire?

You may not have ever been inside a fire, but do you recall a time when you faced a trial that was not the result of sin? What was the issue and why do you think you experienced it?

Summary Statement:
An idol doesn’t have to be a statue. An idol is anything that moves God to a second place position in a person’s life. Undoubtedly, Jews were among the people who took the easy way and “fell down and worshiped the image of gold.” The fourth figure in the fire demonstrates God is ever present with His people.

God often uses ungodly men to accomplish His purpose. God hardened Pharaoh’s heart to serve a purpose. “I will harden Pharaoh’s heart.” (Exodus 7: 3) Nebuchadnezzar was God’s instrument in Judgment on the nation Israel. In this chapter, a pagan king is used to test and separate persons who do not put God in first place. It foretells John the Baptist’s prophecy of the Second Coming. “His winnowing fork is in His hand, He will clear His threshing floor, gathering His wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire.” (Matthew 3:12)
Like much of Daniel, this chapter is highly prophetic. Daniel’s absence say some, represents the absence of a raptured Church in the coming Tribulation. The three boys represent God protecting His remnant during the Tribulation.

About the Author
John Pennington is a retired Oklahoma music educator. Performing as a professional musician, he was a member of the Oklahoma City Symphony and the Oklahoma City Lyric Theater Orchestra. Following his teaching years he owned and operated retail music stores in New Mexico. Retiring a second time, John became active in the Community Bible Study chapter in Albuquerque where he and his wife Mary chaired a couple’s class. He served as an Assistant Teaching Director for the Community Bible Study in Murrieta, California. Relocating to North Texas in 2005, the couple established residential Bible study groups in two HOA communities which continue to the present.
John began writing Bible studies upon relocating in North Texas. His studies generally avoid topical subjects, focusing more on front to back studies of each Book of the Bible. The simplicity of the studies are instrumental in ensuring attendees return year after year.
While in California, John became involved with choral music and served as conductor of the Colony Chorale in Murrieta, California. He has served as a church choir director in McKinney, Texas and currently is an active member of the Stonebriar Community Church Sanctuary Choir of Frisco, Texas.
