Faced with devastating news of an incurable disease, My Own Miracle is the story of my journey of faith for truth, and proof that the God of the Bible is still in the miracle-working business today.
Having read hundreds of testimonies of other people being healed, I wondered if it was actually possible for me to receive a healing as well. Thus the name of this book comes from my journey to find “MY OWN MIRACLE”.
After having accepted Christ as a young adult, I spent decades in the Word of God (The Holy Bible). I often wondered if the stories I had read of famous men and women of God who professed to have the gifts of healing, (as described in 1 Corinthians 12:4-11), really were true. I also sought evidence that God still works those same kinds of miracles today.
I began a faith journey to learn the answer to one question: “Would God show Himself to me with an unmistakable, undeniable, miraculous personal physical healing?”
It is only natural for anyone to wonder at some time in their Christian walk whether the promises of God apply to “me” in modern times, especially as it relates to miracles, healings and spiritual gifts.
My Own Miracle documents the journey from the doctor’s phone call that dark day in October of 2011 until the date that the answer came. In obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit, I began writing this book BEFORE there was a healing or any indication that one had begun. In fact over 90% of this book was written before God showed me a miracle!
It is important to preface this book with perhaps the most commonly asked question that Christians struggle with: “Why does God allow suffering in His children?” Probably every Pastor out there has been asked this question many times.
It is critical to remember that God’s original creation had no sickness in it (the Garden as detailed in the creation story of Genesis). It was only when sin entered in that sickness began, and as such, it was not God who introduced sin and sickness into His creation. He has dealt with sins effect since that time, and will until that time when we are totally separated from the sin that remains on earth and we are safely home with Him.
Because of the effect of sin on God’s creation He cannot promise His children a walk through this life without trials. What God can do is take us through the trials, and we can be assured that He will be there with us. God promises His presence “He will never leave us or forsake us” (Deuteronomy 31:6 KJV), His pledge is to set limits to the trials (1 Corinthians 10:13), the assurance of His Mercy as we walk through this life, His sustaining grace; and finally, of our victory through Jesus Christ.
God promises that if we place our faith and our trust in Him, that one day we will pass beyond the trials of this life and arrive safely home on the other side where He is waiting for us. In the time between now and then, God is still showing Himself to be faithful.
This book is evidence that every believer can have faith that the God of the Universe cares about them just as much as he cared for those Jesus healed in the Bible, and that He loves each of us equally (Acts 10:34). The ministry of Jesus, as He walked on the face of the earth in the Gospels is still alive, active, and available to His children today!
Our God is a personal God who desires a personal relationship with each one of His children.
One thing that I clearly learned on my journey is that God does not heal in a prescribed format. Just as each one of us is His unique creation, so too are His wondrous ways of granting miracles and healings...
