Most of the time when a person calls to you without using your name they do not know you very well. They have not spent time with you to know your name. That person does not know what kind of games you like to play, what your favorite color is, if you like pets or even if you like chocolate chip cookies as much as they do. When you care about someone you will learn their name. You learn what they like and don't like. You will want to spend time with that person so you can get to know them better. Did you know that God has special names too? Just as you spend time with your friends, God wants to spend time with you. He wants to be your very best friend and learn why you can trust Him. He wants you to get to know His names.

When you really know someone, you call them by their name. Everyone is unique and has a name that is special to only them. You may be named after a mother, father, or other special relative. Another name might be selected because there is a special meaning. For example, the name Brooke means “peaceful.” The name Dakota means “brave.” Did you know that God has special names too? God can be called Elohim or Adonai. You will know your friends and God better by spending time with them. Come and discover how a name is important to you and to God.
About the Author
Cathy Jo’s passion is teaching children about God and His Word. She graduated with a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree in elementary education. Teaching for eighteen years in Christian and public schools has provided many enriching experiences. Cathy Jo has been married to her husband, Michael, for thirty years. They enjoy living in Carmel, Indiana. They have two sons, a daughter, and daughter-in-law. Cathy Jo enjoys reading and anything outdoors, especially capturing sunrises, flowers, and wildlife with photography or sitting around a campfire roasting marshmallows with family and friends.
Michael Della Villa was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He graduated from Pensacola Christian College with a Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design. Photography and graphic arts are his passion. He enjoys outdoor activities. Michael and his wife Faith live in Indianapolis, Indiana.
