The Adam’s Woman

It was God who said that “it was not good for man to be alone” (Genesis 2:18 KJV), the man needed a companion. Adam did not ask for the woman, as he did not even know what a woman was. He’d never seen any other creature like himself. God puts him in a deep sleep and performs a divine surgery, and thus the woman is brought into being. She is designed to strengthen and assist man, working as an equal partner with him, attending to the things of God. She is made from the same “stuff’ that God used to make man, despite biological, physical, and mental differences. She was just as perfect as he was, for she was taken out of him. She was designed by God to be man’s completion and to complement him in the sanctity of marriage. The woman was created to be “beside” man. The origination of her from the “rib” or “side” indicates her place of equality with him—not beneath, above, or to replace him. She was not formed from his back, foot, head, or neck, but from his “side”. They both were created with some God ordained differences, but together they made a full "man," or a complete picture of God Himself. It’s no surprise that man was not startled when God brought woman to him, especially given the fact that he’d never seen another human being before. She was a reflection of him in spiritual character and divine nature. What man recognized in woman was himself, for she reflected him, and they both were the reflection of God! So, it makes perfect sense that when a man is looking for a wife, he is really looking for himself—the internal part of himself. He will recognize himself when he sees himself, which gives credence to the biblical saying “he that finds a wife, finds a good thing” (Proverbs 18:22 KJV), because the man that finds himself is made whole again. The same is true of the woman or wife, when the man finds her, she will see her own reflection in him. It is not a matter of biology or physics, but the divine nature of God.
