"Guilt will keep you in a sin consciousness as well as keep you bound if you let it linger on. Just think of it as dragging a chain attached to your leg with heavy weights on it. Guilt will keep you from operating in faith. Many people spend their entire lives running from their past. We all have regrets and things from our past that we wish we could change. These thoughts from guilt run rampant in our minds and will eventually lead to shame if not dealt with properly. Your past will control your future if
you fail to deal with it. Your past will keep you punishing yourself, which will lead to continued negative thinking. Just think about the guilt of Cain in Genesis chapter 4.
Cain killed his brother Abel, and the guilt from the offense disconnected him from God. Judas’s guilt from betraying Jesus caused him to commit suicide."
