I am going to be honest with you both, this parenting thing has not been easy, but it has been rewarding. We have had our highs and our lows. The tough sometimes really got tougher. My mind will sometimes play tricks on me and make me feel at times that I missed the mark or I have not done all that was required from me or that if I could go back and change some things, I would. I then had to realize that there is no perfect parent or child. My greatness assurance is I know our Father God who is full of grace and mercy has been walking with me every step of the way and that I live under His grace. Being a parent is a life time of on the job training.

We think we are too emotional because we tend to feel so much. Sometimes we feel we are not pretty enough, smart enough, or just enough. These feelings of inadequacy can be overwhelming at times, but I need you to remember that you are made perfectly! You are the person that God made you to be. Love and accept the beautiful person you have become. Don’t make excuses for or belittle the person you are. What matters is that you are who God says you are. Speak life to yourself and enjoy being the person that God made you.

I realized that I needed to teach you to replace those 2 negative words with positive words so I began to teach you the Word of God. Why? Because I knew that God’s Word produced results. And, by speaking positive, you would be strengthened and not be defeated in whatever you were trying to accomplish. One of your favorite scriptures was Philippians 4:13. “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Those 10 words changed my life - they made me feel confident, and helped me carry out what it was that I was attempting to do.

During your father’s sickness, I became very protective of him. At that time he was still serving as a pastor along with his responsibilities at home, as well as work. With this in mind, I watched my words when I was in his presence along with being by his side to safe guard him as he interacted with others. During that long trial, I learned what true intimacy was. Intimacy can be defined as “in to me see.” As your father and I walked together on that journey, intimacy was taken to a level that we had never known before. I learned what the vow, loving your spouse till death do you part, really meant. True intimacy is greater than just a sexual bond between a husband and wife.

About the Book
As mothers or someone raising a young lady, we have a lot to handle on a daily basis. Along with being a mother, we have our daily routines, the nine-to-five, a business, being a wife, and being a church and community leader. We often lose track of the moments and time when our daughters or children can be communicating in a verbal or nonverbal way that they need their mother, mommy, mom, and/or ma. A strong and healthy mother-daughter relationship is the key in the relationships a young lady will form in her adult years. Once strengthened and made healthy, this positive impact can change generational lines. Join seven mothers as they take a stand from past disappointments of divorce, parent incarceration, spouse abandonment, hurts, and rejection to use as teaching moments for their daughters. Set aside some alone time or time with your daughters to read carefully as these mothers share moments when they had to have the tough conversation in order to help develop women of faith, wisdom, purpose, and leadership.

Lead Author, Cassandra Ferguson with six co-authors is the Visionary and Director of Diamonds and Pearls Unlimited an organization that mentors young ladies from 13 years of age to 30. She is also a Radio One Talk Show Host, a Speaker, a Certified Leadership Trainer, a Professional/Personal Coach under the John Maxwell Group, a Mentor, 21st Kingdom Collaborator, and an Organization and Business Strategist.

Cassandra is described by many as being passionate, bold, and results-driven. She has been married to Antonio Ferguson, Sr. for twenty-nine years. She is the mother of four adult children—Chantré, Shaneka, Tony Jr., and Antwan. Cassandra has attended Mount Pleasant Church and Ministries for twenty-one years, where she serves alongside her husband in the Deacon Care and Marriage Ministries under the leadership of Bishop Clifford M. Johnson Jr. and Lady Dorothy Johnson. She is often called upon to not only teach adults of all ages but, teach teens and young adults as well. She has taught in the areas of professional and personal development, purpose, vision, understanding of the generations GI to Z, effective communication, branding, ethical conduct, barriers that can hinder you, accountability, the power of influence, networking, how to progress ahead, exporting your talent, attitude, how to make your past work for you, hospitality, confidence, persuading others, how to put the right people behind your drive, critical thinking, and building credibility.
Cassandra says her assignment is to help develop leaders of all ages and help inspire others to live out their God-given purpose.
