Exile

I want to keep this brief. I am an average guy. I am not a celebrity. I’m not an academic genius or an incredible athlete. I’ve done nothing to be famous. I am not writing this book because I believe I have oracles of wisdom that needs to be communicated to the masses. I do not have any magical secrets. I am not writing this book to have it be like every other self-help book that will be bought just to sit on book shelves all while I’m sent a profit.

I’m writing this book, part memoir and part commentary, because I believe the experiences of my life are relatable to people. I’m writing this book exactly because there’s nothing “special” about me. I truly believe that our lives and our journeys are so much more and bigger than just a few experiences or choices. Considering this I’ve written a book that works through different experiences I’ve had and what I have struggled with and discovered. At every point, I hope to shed light on the questions I was asking. These questions are essential to this book and what gives this material its value and relatable. I hope you are inspired to be constantly asking your own questions, constantly wondering about your own journey and beliefs. Sometimes life is harder to figure out than just happily ever after or black and white. Sometimes life throws curves and it’s difficult to understand much of anything. What this book may or may not capture is the feeling of months or years of circumstances or situations that seemed like they would never end. However, I hope you can relate to these seasons of hopelessness, of longing, of sometimes boredom through your own similar experiences.

In the hardest moments of my life, which I’ll get to in probably more detail than I should share, I always wanted to understand the bigger picture so that I could 1) find a way out and heal and 2) so that I could help people never experience what I was going through. I found hope that allowed me to make it through and redefine my life and I want to share that story here. I found something that is timeless. I didn’t find understanding through some type of fad or new age idea. I found something that helped me put my whole life in perspective. I found this hope in a story and person that changed everything. My reason for writing is because in my story I hope you will find a common ground with me. I hope you can discover for yourself how you can have your own story and life redeemed for now and eternity.
