About the Book

At a glance the old farm fence is overgrown and unkempt. Nearly unrecognizable now, its usefulness seems to have ebbed away with the passing years. Or has it?

In her poem The Fence Row, author Lydia Finch Johnston invites readers to linger a bit in the magnificence of nature, wherever it is found, and to reflect on the simple truth that despite appearances, when left undisturbed, our natural world follows its divine course to bear fruit beyond measure.

Johnston’s gentle cadence in storytelling and lyrical poetic style are complimented seamlessly with the rustic, soulful art of Marge Kincade. Together, writer and artist strike a beautiful rhythm that blossoms in The Fence Row and will enchant readers young and old for ages to come.

About the Author

Lydia Finch Johnston is a writer, poet and Master Naturalist who has authored previous works including The Red Scarf, Touch the Wind, All Around The Pond; Discovering God’s Creation Through Poetry and The Tree Planter’s Handbook. She lives on a small farm in rural Indiana with her beloved husband, Don and a menagerie of therapy pets. This is her first collaboration with artist, Marge Kincade.

Marge Kincade, an artist since childhood, shares her talents through Christian ministries both locally and abroad. Her paintings and murals are inspired by decades of missionary work and may be found on display from the tribal reservations of north central Arizona to the mountains of Honduras. She has created art for the municipality of Jamestown, Indiana as well as multiple service organizations including the Indiana Children’s Home and Blue Yonder Organic Farm. Her most cherished achievement, however, is the art created while working with TCM International at Heiligenkreuz, Austria where students from eastern Europe and Russia study to receive accredited, graduate level biblical degrees.

Mrs. Kincade is the illustrator of a previous work, Specialties of the Haus, a cookbook of favorite American and European dishes.
