The next morning, John and I rose at about 5 am. We headed to Mr. Larry Brantley’s house to follow him to hunt on the land leased by the Tanner Williams Foundation. This was a foundation started by some men when a local boy who loved to hunt was tragically killed in a car accident. They exist to take kids hunting, spend time with them, and point them to Jesus. I am thankful for their work. John and I went to what is called the “School Bus Stand.” It gets this name because about 50 yards away from it there is an old school bus. John and I got settled in, and as it begin to get day light, the feeder went off at 7 a.m. I sent Barry a text that read, “Feeder just went off. We are hopeful. Hoping to touch off the thunder stick!” We had been texting back and forth off the deer stand for a couple of weeks. He did not respond, so I thought, “Well he may have deer in front of him or has shot one already.” In a few minutes John, who was 10 at the time, had a doe step out at 117 yards. She walked across the shooting lane too quickly for a shot. She then turned around and walked back.

The price of this book is worth it for chapter 10 alone. If you like a true redemption story about someone who is converted nine days before they die, then this is a must. Ronnie tells some hunting experiences he has had and intertwines them with biblical principles. This is great for hunters of all kinds.
About the Author
Ronnie is an avid outdoorsman. He is a gifted game caller. He is even pretty good with his natural voice. He worked for Drury Outdoors back in the mid 1990’s. He has harvested turkeys in 8 different states. He has a distinct way in which he takes a story and pulls principles out of it to apply to everyday living. Ronnie has spoken to men’s groups and churches all over the USA and in 7 foreign countries. He has been married to Delana since July 11th 1998. They have 5 children and reside in rural Lyons, GA. He has been the President of Ronnie Smith Ministries, Inc. since 2000. He continues to write, hunt, and speak upon invitation. He also has a weekly podcast entitled Rooted in the Word.
