The mechanical monster What on earth? We were completely surrounded by powerful shots of water coming from a mechanical monster. With his rubber tentacles, he forcefully spit gallons at us. The monster then slowly crept by spitting water at both sides and then he inched toward our back. What was this all about? What was going on? I barked; I snapped; I lunged, and I bit at the jets of water. Make it stop, I demanded. Make the monster go away or at least let me at ‘em! What chaos! I was flabbergasted. Protect and destroy. That’s what I wanted to do. I jumped from the front seat to the back seat but to no avail. We were totally engulfed, and the beast wouldn’t let up. He continuously spewed water, suds, mist, and hot air at us like a fiery dragon, and there was absolutely nothing I could do about it. My world began to close in on me. I began to panic, hyperventilate, and feel faint. Get me out of this torture chamber now! Get me away from this beast! I can’t breathe! As soon as I thought was going to collapse, the monster died. The chaos had ceased; the monster was gone, and the ride was over. My mom then pulled forward and out of the wet chamber. I learned that we had just been through a car wash…my very first car wash. The car was now sparkling clean but I had used up 8 of my lives…if I had been a cat, that is. Next time, can we use the hose attached to our house? For Pete’s sake, I only have one life left.

About the Author
Andrea Bassham Taylor is an honor graduate of the University of Georgia, with a degree in early childhood education and a minor in German. She enjoys traveling and sharing new cultures, languages, and ideas with her son Matthew. Besides her son and memories of Kadee, Andrea also shares her home with her husband Richard and her kitty Alex.
